Last fall Diane and I collected a bunch of Japanese maple seeds and kept them in moist peat moss all winter. they are starting to sprout now and we have a bunch of seedlings from these beautiful trees. Unfortunately, it is too early to set them outside.

Let the summer begin. There was enough warm weather this past week that Diane and I were able to get our new garden started. We tilled and installed a fence to keep the deer and other rodents out. Some say they are planting a recession garden this year because of tough times. I am growing a garden because I love to garden. So far we have planted grapes, black berries, rasberries, onions and lettuce. Hopefully, the snow will stop long enough for us to start the rest of our cool crops this weekend. The space is about 100' by 30'.
